Trouble Funk – E Flat Boogie

Here’s one for a Saturday night…

Trouble Funk were the foremost proponents of go-go, a scene that is generally acknowledged to have been started by Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers; their Ashley’s Roachclip was posted by our P Rice many moons ago. Its home is Washington DC, a city brought to life in the novels of George Pelecanos who I heartily recommend to anyone who likes a good read.

E Flat Boogie was released back in 1980 when the group were just known as Trouble. A number of albums followed, but they were particularly famous for their live shows to which the heavy percussion and vocal call and response thing that go-go has go-going on was well suited. I like to think the guys are still ripping DC up when they get the chance; their MySpace page suggests they might be. Chuck Brown, George Clinton and Amp Fiddler are all friends – makes sense.

Have just thought of a great interweb version of six degrees of Kevin Bacon; you could do the same using MySpace friends. I got from Trouble Funk to Shakira; anyone else want a game?
