A Smooth Operator
2007-01-12 by P RiceSade – Give It Up (Kenny Larkin remix)
For quite some time this has been one of my archetypal ‘heard it on a mix and wish I knew what the hell it is’ tunes. That was until I saw it for sale on ebay last week for large amounts of money. I thought the vocal sounded like Sade but the Kenny Larkin bit was a surprise.
This remix was released as a 12” in 1995. There’s a Stacey Pullen mix on the other side which I haven’t heard but which is also supposed to be great. Sade was none too pleased with the release, which was called the Illegal Remix EP, and got her lawyer to stop it being sold. This is why the record is as rare as rocking horse shit and very expensive (unless you buy it on the album of Sade remixes that’s been released recently. Hurray).

God bless you, Mr P. This tune rightly rocks my world. What the hell was Sade thinking?
According to my soulseekings, Kenny Larkin has also remixed "Surrender your love" and "I never thought," while Moodyman has done a remix of "By your side".
This is Surrender Your Love under an alternative title
