James Mason - I Want Your Love

2007-01-18 by Kevvy K

I couldn’t resist whacking this up on the back of Squeaker’s James Mason post… an epic slap of slow-mo disco soul with a similarly squidgy synth sound, a killer break, fierce little congas and the mother of all key changes near the end. Eleven minutes plus of searing, sexy soul.

Would love to finally hear this song! If there's any chance of a re-up please do so, thanks.

This remains of one of my favourite tunes posted on DC. I continue to look for a vinyl copy but even the re-release goes for large sums.

Is someone going to re-up for Ian? He needs to hear it.

you know.. i have a distinct memory of me playing this to you in a car while we were driving round somewhere trying to find a shroom-friendly eclipse watching spot and saying, 'check this, its amazing' and you saying.. 'mweh.. s'okay' or some such!

would you be happy with it on a vinyl comp?

Can do the re-up but will have to do some hard drive digging.

You could well be right (although did you really have this on a tape way back then, and if so, who made it?), but what can I say? My tastes has become a little wider as I have grown older. I can't imagine you would have been into many disco tunes during the years when you sported your locks.

Ta for hunting down the compilation. I can put this back up if necessary.

Yes, I'm the first to throw my hands up for crimes of past tastelessness. I can also remember chastising someone at university for being into Stevie Wonder. And if we go even further back, can remember dissing all dance music for being 'hedonistic and mindless'.

Tape was made by me off some of Jay's records.. she had the comp in question at the time.

People are supposedly more broadminded and open when they are younger, but I've definitely got less prejudiced about music as I have got older.
