Written and produced by Kenton Nix, and then given the Levan remix treatment, “Work That Body” was something of an anthem at the Paradise Garage. The name apparently originates from a queen at the Garage who, when she saw someone getting off to a track, would scream “Work that body, girl!”. Originally recorded as a 10 minute instrumental acetate, Larry Levan insisted that lyrics be added; Taana Gardner stepped up to the plate and a classic was born.
