Damn you Facebook, give us back the Squeaker!

Dorothy ParkerSoul MekanikThe Bootleg of Dorothy Parker

A tastefully touched up edit of The Artist Currently Known As Prince’s Ballad of Dorothy Parker from the landmark Sign o’ the Times. I wonder if anyone has ever done anything with Starfish and Coffee, one of my particular faves from the album?

Seems like many moons ago since we did the Prince week here on DC.. would love to do it all over again if we had nuff nuggets of this high calibre. This track goes out as an appeal to Tommy Squeaker, who is the biggest Prince-ophile amongst us, and who has pretty much sung his little word-perfect heart out to all of Sign o the Times on a car journey back from Wales one time. Here’s hoping we haven’t lost him entirely to the vapid allure of Facebook (personally I find it hard to get excited about social networking sites in which people’s ‘bits’ don’t play a prominent role) and that he will be gracing us with more tunes soon.

This is from the Creative Use series of edits, that don’t seem to be all that available these days, alas. There’s a great one of Annie, I’m Not Your Daddy which may have to make an appearance on here in the not too distant.

I think I’m developing a Big Brother crush. It’s never a good thing.

Seems like all my friends have jumped on the Facebook bandwagon, and it's helping us all find each other around the world, which is a good thing. It's certainly better than MySpazz anyways!

    YES!!!
Nice work Kev , been hunting for this for ages.

Since the August gigs were announced my inner teenage Prince fan has been gradually taking over-come august 1st I'll have morphed into a weirdly asexually dwarf complete with puerto rican 'tache and worrying perchance for skintight purple one-syes.

    (gonna be a long summer)

ps-If you decide to do another Prince week let me know, might have a couple of things for you.

Happy to oblige Jaksoul. Do remember to keep us in the loop as to any of your future do's… especially in the Essex Road vicinity.

Not planning on being at the free Tako thing on Saturday at Cosmo, are you?

This is great, kev – dorothy parker was always one of my faves from sign o' the times. "I said cool, but i'm leaving my pants on, cos I'm kinda going with someone". I bet you say that to all the girls…
