Model 500 – O.K. Corral
I think this is the first Model 500 tune that I (& the Squeaker) ever heard, although I didn’t know it at the time. It was on a compilation tape labelled “Acid House” that used to be knocking around back in the day, which also had a selection of the best tracks from Acid Trax Volume 2.
And this is acid house… kind of. Taken from 1988’s Interference/Electronic EP, its not a squidge-heavy workout like so much of ‘88 acid house, but rather reminiscent of early 808 State stuff; it wouldn’t sound amiss on Quadrastate. It’s a great tune – lively beats with a catchy-as-hell squidge hook, and plenty of build-it-up-then-break-it-down action and some nice phasing on the drums at times.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.
