Whitney Houston – Love Will Save The Day (Jellybean & David Morales Classic 1987 Underground Mix)
Although Whitney has graced these pages a couple of times in bootleg forms, I think this might be the first time we have had an entirety from her ouevre. So why would one post something from such an unabashed pop diva, amidst the rest of the obscurer and counterculturaler offerings that are normally served on here? Well if you can get over the charty-associations of the vocals (and that’s never really been an issue I’ve had, at least not since I was an angsty, 16-year-old goth decrying great swathes of music for being hedonistic and superficial), what you;re actually left with is a prime cut of boompety 80s New York garage flavour, and this reworking was indeed a favourite down at the Paradise Garage, that inspired the definition of the genre.
Its not possible for me to not get my groove on listening to this, and especially love the vibraphones coming in midway.

Once again you've pulled out a corker, guys. This is a great remix from the late 80s.
I think this was one of the first remixes that Morales got credited for, even though he had been involved in a number of previous projects. If your looking for something similar I would recommend his remix of Sheena Easton's 101.
Paul
Ace & it still sounds great today.
