Femi KutiSorry Sorry (françois k’s old school afro-dub)

Continuing, amidst a pre-dawn bout of jetlag, with afro-flavour, here’s a respectful remix Sorry Sorry by son of afro-beat megastar Fela, now an internationally renowned musician and activist in his own right, Femi, from his ‘99 dance-floor filler of an album Shoki Shoki.

It’s a bit of a tenuous link (the group involved, has a lot of connections with one of the groups in London who have done a lot of solidarity work with the people of the Nigerian Delta who have suffered enormous amounts of violent repression at the hands of the Nigerian governement and Shell), but the Hands Off Iraqi Oil campaign has called for a global day of action on Friday and Saturday.

“For the Iraqi people, war and occupation have led to hundreds of thousands of deaths, relentless insecurity and crippling poverty. But for foreign oil companies, the desperate situation in Iraq is an opportunity to control Iraq’s oil, and make massive profits at the expense of the Iraqi people.”

Events are taking place all over the UK and in other countries, but in London, people will be dressing up as pirates (landlubbers welcome too) and meeting on Saturday at 12.30 outside of Bond Street tube. See you there, me hearties.
