A crafty jimmy

Jimmy RossFirst True Love Affair (Eddie Tour edit)

I love the vocal original of this Paradise Garage anthem, but I love what Eddie Tour has done in nipping and tucking this chunky instrumental version. Its a bass-heavy monster that layers up the Chic-inspired jingly guitars before erupting into lovely synth flares. Apparently some of the production team behind Kano were also responsible for Jimmy’s only album, released in the early 80s, which explains the sharpness of the thick-cut funk.

This was on the second installment of the Disco Deviance series, which you can still get from Phonica here. The most recent in the series, editted by Pete Herbet came out just last week and you can buy that here.

In other exciting edit release news, remember a while back I posted Labelle’s Moonshadow in anticipation of an edit being put out by the gash-froth inducing Mark-E? Well, it’s out now in the Creative Use series and you can get it here.
