Seven deadly synths (2)

Stevie Nicks – Stand Back
I didn’t want anyone to get the impression that this was going to be all uber-hip and leftfield. This is a rollicking, unchained power-synth beast from the Mac’s witchy, coke-holed singer-song writer, Stevie Nicks. It’s a tune that has lurked at the peripheries of my consciousness, and not until I heard it played out on a few different occasions at the Horse Meat Disco to rapturous response did I realise what an awesome affair it is. I think that this more than warrants a posting in the context of synth week as its a prime example of slightly overblown, but highly emotive synth action that really carries the song along.
This is the sort of thing I can very happily play three or four times in a row and still it stirs things in my breast. According to wikipedia (which I am more suspicious of following the recent Righeira/Sueno Latino expose), Stevie was inspired by Little Red Corvette in writing this, and that his Purpledom actually laid down some of the incredible synth parts in the studio.

that is absolutely wonderful, how did I miss that when it came out….thank you very very much!!!!!
There is nothing as enjoyable as discovering a totally over the top 80's record that can be played out.
