More classic jungle – this time in the ragga style – from Blackstar aka Congo Natty aka Conquering Lion aka Rebel MC (yes, that Rebel MC!).
Here he employs the considerable vocal talents of Top Cat which when married with a little nice reggae lick, gunshots, sirens and a jungle breakbeat produce a huge amount of dancefloor excitement.

I know the gunshots are not really too PC, but they are brilliant percussive tools and were a big part of the jungle sound for a couple of years.
But never forget, like the man says (taken from the Congo Natty website):

i have this tape from when this was on dubplate, must have been like early 95 or so with mickey finn playing live on one side and i think it is randall on the flip. mickey finn only played for about 45 minutes, but it was so intense. his last tune was this and it got rewound about 3 times, the crowd was going NUTS you could hear them almost as loud as the emcee through his mic. all time ragga classic, i LOVE this joint.
Yeah I'm sure I remember hearing this out well before the alleged 1996 release date on Discogs. Such a wicked track – the middle section from 2.35ish where the beat drops out and it's a full minute of just shouting, gunshots, sirens & that dubby organ line is amazing… by the time the beat finally drops again the crowd is totally hyped for it.
BTW I finally got round to adding your blog to the blogroll… been meaning to do it for ages now.
