Kenny LarkinQ

Have we shown enough Kenny-love round these parts? I think I remember P Rice posting a Yennek track a while back? To be honest, I’m not sure if we have shown enough Detroit techno love in general on this blog, considering it’s perhaps, correct me if I’m wrong, one of the most common points of references amidst the divergent musical perspectives of everyone who posts on here….

Anyway, this is my fave track of the seminal 94 Azimuth album, a copy of which I received as a 21st birthday present, sellotaped up with a copy of Richard H Kirk’s Virtual State from Alboy, both of which I played to death and formed an important soundtrack to many of my youthfully twisted moments. One of the more upbeat tracks from the album, but no matter how banging it gets, it never loses the funk. Pure Detroit class.

Interesting Techno soap fact: Kenny Larkin was the name of Russell Crowe’s short-lived character in golden-era Neighbours.

Ooooh – that is such a good tune. That sort of sound also takes me back a bit.
    Cheers!

Larkin rocks. I did post his remix of Sade's 'Surrender Your Love', and also 'Sympathy' from his second album, but the more the merrier I say. We might have to get something from the Corborite Maneuver EP up – its a proper classic.

I was just listening to that t'other night and thinking about posting it.. to my ears, its one of the more obvious examples of the big influence that Italo disco had on Detroit Tekkers

I agree with you on the Warp Site – how confusing is that? It was much easier walking into the shop!
Hope you all continue Larkin around.

    Greg.

I think Warp no longer sell directly through the Warp site – you need to go to Bleep.com (which I think perhaps they own).

You're right. And they do have it for download there. Great post btw
