While we’re on a rocking out tip…
I got an e-mail this morning from a mate called Joel who I shared a flat with about 14 years ago – he’s in a band and they’ve recorded a World Cup Anthem. This isn’t the kind of thing I’d usually post, but I do quite like the horn section on here, and I just couldn’t resist the hype:
“I think you’ll agree it is easily, by far and away, the best football song ever written, but also transcends that genre and is arguably the best piece of music ever made. Give it a listen, pass it round. We could do with your help to get it properly signed and released and played on the radio all the time and sung by the English masses as the anthem of the summer…. so if any of you can organise that for us it would be great. We’d like it to be the biggest song ever if that’s OK with you.”
OK if I’m honest it’s a far cry from being the best piece of music ever made, but in the lowly world of the football song I reckon it scores pretty high, and might even give E for England a run for its money.
