if you thought she’d shot her 15 minutes on “pon de replay”, i wouldve agreed with you, but she’s come back strong with this little number- a beefed up edit of soft cell’s “tainted love” it’s a bit of a banger!
i loved that the sugarbabes had never heard of gary numan even after they sampled “are friends electric” for “freak like me”. I dont know if Rihanna knew the soft cell tune, recorded as it was in 1981, a full 7 years before Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born, but she does use some lines from the gloria jones original (which i’m about to post…)
Think she recorded it for a nike promo (boooo!), but if you can get passed that it’s a wicked tune :)
