A short song...

Napalm Death – Success

So for now we need to have files under 2 MB… rather than lose sound quality the obvious answer is to go with short tracks, and no-one makes shorter tracks than the mighty Napalm Death! This is from their 1987 debut LP Scum, back when the line-up included Justin Broadrick who went on to form Godflesh, who were a lot slower and arguably a lot better for it (check out Streetcleaner for some of the heaviest riffs and killer drum programming this side of Big Black).

I particularly like the vocal style on this one.

Success?
Climb the ladder, your security
Upward social mobility

Consume the lies “It’s what you need”
Vicious circle of mindless greed

Where is your success gained from?
What of the lives you’re shat upon?
Caught in the web you’ll play the game
An artifical life but who’s to blame?

Unfortunately not… the said establishment has been closed as of late. Hopefully for an extended Summer holiday, but who ever heard of a pub that closed for the holidays? It doesn't look good I'm afraid.

The Ferrers is closed! My world is rocked!

Huge respect for plugging Godflesh, Double K.

Update on the Ferrers: it looks like the landlord has died I think – Andrea reckons she knew he had been ill for a while.
    RIP.
