Thunder and lightning

So it’s been raining in a fairly biblical fashion today and although I got hot going out to the pub for lunch with me coat and brolly, you’ve got to kind of think that summer’s finally leaving us. Which means months and MONTHS of long nights, grey skies and bitter cold.
To counteract this, here’s some more Kenny Larkin. This one goes back ten years before Baby Blues to his 1995 album, Metaphor. It’s pretty outstanding stuff, real electronic soul. Kenny was first spotted leaping round in The Shelter in his native Detroit by Toronto boys Richie Hawtin and Jon Acquaviva who signed him to their +8 label. Trawling round for news on his current activities I came across his myspace page and was intrigued to learn that he’s after trying his hand at stand up comedy. Apparently he started out as a comic after a stint in the airforce and before he hooked up with Plastikman and started making music. Be interesting to see how he gets on. For now, here’s a choice quote;
I basically want to meet down to earth people into house music, and funky techno, not that trance bullshit.
I hear you, Kenny.
